Flempton Hedgehog Day - Sunday 6th February 2011the-pirates

Captain Jack and the crew will be making their final appearance, as the Year of the Pirate is coming to a close and the new Lord or Lady(??) will be crowned.

The 6th of February is traditionally known as Candlemass Day and as such the mad bunch of Flemptonites could not let an opportunity pass without a celebration.  So, in true mad fashion, we have hijacked this day and adopted 'HEDGEHOG' Day.  It is our attempt at celebrating the end of Winter, something our American cousins adopted back in the days of the Mayflower, but as they couldn't find any hedgehogs, they adopted their Groundhog.

Our short celebration will be held at 11.00am on the village green, when hopefully we will be able to coax our spiney friend out from it's warm winter nest and predict that winter is over and warmer weather is on it's way.  Once this is over, the crowning of the new Lord or Lady will be undertaken and we will conduct a short Hedgehog Service in the church. Followed of course, by Hedgehog pie in the local watering hole.

Watch this space for news on the new Ruler of Flempton and the antics for 2011.

Captain Jack would also like to thank his crew for all their hard work during 2010/11 and all the locals who supported their village so well on Pirates Day.

Marc-Book-offerWe are pleased to be able to offer our first advertising space to our Reverend David Burrell.  He has written his first book, MARC:  Darkness had taken hold of many on earth, especially those who were supposed to be the bringers of love; and not just any love but God's love.  It can be purchased locally from the Rectory at West Stow, or purchase from Amazon.co.uk at £9.99.   A really good holiday read.  Get your copy NOW!
